Furniture shop

The RHT furniture bank operates from the generous donations we receive from the community. We accept quality pre-loved furniture, which we either sell in our store or directly provide to families in need.

This initiative ensures that everyone has access to the basic furnishings necessary for a comfortable home.

Food bank

Our food bank is a lifeline for many families and individuals facing food insecurity. We distribute food parcels filled with essential items to those in need, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals.

The food bank operates entirely on donations, with community support being crucial to its success.

Raven House Trust

How it all started

The Beginning

Raven House Trust is one of the longest-serving food banks in Wales, established in 1992. The journey began with a compassionate lady from Duckpool Road Baptist Church who recognised the urgent need to support the homeless during the harsh winter months. She approached her minister with her concerns, and together they inspired the church leaders to take action.

Early Days

With the support of Newport Council, RHT was able to provide overnight shelter, a hot meal, and breakfast to the homeless during the winter months. This initiative offered immediate relief and demonstrated the power of community action in addressing social issues.

Evolution into a Food Bank

Recognising the ongoing need for support, the initiative evolved into a permanent food bank in 1998. Since then, RHT has continued to grow and expand its services, always adapting to meet the changing needs of the community.

Our mission and vision

At Raven House Trust, our mission is to provide essential support to those in need through the provision of food and furniture. We believe in the power of community and the importance of helping our neighbours in times of crisis.

Our vision is a community where everyone has access to the basic necessities of life and the opportunity to thrive.
