Service to
our Community
Our Vision
To provide a
professional, confidential and impartial service that
harnesses the dynamics of entrepreneurial drive and
sustainable social enterprise and that relieves poverty
and eliminates discrimination by giving practical help
to local communities within South Wales
Our Mission
To improve self-help,
influence social responsibility and quality of life
of both individuals and families who are on low income
or benefits by the provision of food, clothing, and
quality essential household furniture and equipment
We excel in providing a notable service on
a shoe string budget. We have established
the charity on a firmer footing: we have received
notable help from the Henry Smith Foundation
through the good offices of the Community
Foundation in Wales and Kathryn Hall the Development
Manager: this year we are one of the Mayor’s
Charities for the City of Newport: Monmouth
School have helped us put a second van on
the road: and the move to Cromwell Road has
given us greater sales and visibility. We
have also forged links with other furniture
recycling projects which has enabled us to
increase the support we offer to our clients.
We
give notable value for money. Most income
comes from sales of a small number of donated
items. These – and those given to clients
- have been saved from landfill. We are the
only ecumenical Christian organisation in
Wales that helps families and saves many tonnes
of waste.

We get grants and donations
as well. Sometimes this is difficult because we are
a Christian organisation. We thank the Newport Deanery
for including us in their Mission Action Plan. We thank
many other churches for their generous support.
This year churches have so
far provided 5% of income: we hope this will rise to
15% at the end of the year. We’ve been given lots
of food by churches, schools and others. Sadly, we are
struggling to keep up with demand. The whole Church
is deeply concerned about the adverse trend this demonstrates.
