Background
Raven House Trust started in 1992. The Board
of Directors/Trustees is made up of people who are represent
of the diversity of Christian denominations and the
local community.
Within Wales,
Raven House Trust is unique
as an ecumenical Christian based charitable
organisation.

We are not bound by the normal conventions
of other similar community based furniture reuse related
organisations.
Raven House Trust contributes to a number of
EU, UK, Welsh Assembly and Local Authority policies,
strategies and action plans within themes of environmental,
social and community regeneration.
Raven House Trust today displays all
three of the key characteristics of a Social
Enterprise as defined in the Welsh Assembly
Government’s Social Enterprise Strategy
for Wales.

The Trust provides support for the most vulnerable
people in the community through the provision of food,
furniture, clothing, and general household items.
To provide the services we offer to those on
low-income benefits and or in crisis we carry out the
following activities:
We receive generous donations of items from
householders and business from all over South Wales.
Most
of our support based work has taken place in those wards
of greatest environmental, social and economic need
as designated by the Welsh Assembly Government’s
Deprivation Index South Wales area.
The Trust has assets: it owns two properties;
a warehouse/retail operation in Somerton in and the
former Gospel Hall in Maindee, Newport. The latter provides
an income through commercial rent. The Trust rents a
shop in Cromwell Road from a private landlord.
Raven House Trust is funded through a mix of
